About IOE
The Institute of Education (IOE) of Tsinghua University is one of the earliest institutions which are authorized to grant the Master and Doctoral degrees in China. Founded in 1979, the IOE is committed to involving its students by sharing the perspectives of leading thinkers, researchers, and practitioners in the field of education; connecting them with cutting-edge research, best policies and practices; and providing them with an innovative pathway into the profession of education. At the IOE, you will become fully immersed in one of the world’s most dynamic and influential intellectual communities.

International Exchange and Cooperation
The IOE hosted twenty-three major international conferences and held the bilingual doctoral forums for the world young scholars for five consecutive years. Over three hundred international scholars were invited for teaching, joint research and international conferences. More than one hundred postgraduate students participated in high-level international academic conferences. The proportion of students with international exchange experiences reached 50%, ranking among top universities in China. Thirteen faculty members (59% of all faculty members) held positions in international academic organizations or journal editorial boards.
To enhance international collaborations, the IOE has signed MOUs with the Institute of Education of University College London, the School of Engineering Education of Purdue University, the Institute of Education of the Russian Research University Higher School of Economics, and the Faculty of Education of the University of Hong Kong.

Admission requirements
Master Program
① Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport.
② Chinese Proficiency Requires HSK band 5-with a score of 180 or above
③ Master's degree program applicants should have a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree to a Bachelor's degree (or above) in China.
Doctoral Program
① Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport.
② Chinese Proficiency Requires HSK band 5-with a score of 180 or above. Applicants should be proficient in Chinese and English communication and writing
③ In General, Doctoral degree program applicants should have a Master's degree or an equivalent degree to a Master's degree (or above) in China. At the same time, Institute of Education accepts bachelor degree holders to pursue doctoral degrees. Bachelor degree holders for doctoral program application must meet all the uniform requirements of the university, as well as the requirements of this school/department listed below: 1. The Minimum Requirement of Undergraduate GPA or Average scores:3.5/4 or B+ or 80/100; 2.Chinese Proficiency Requirement: HSK band 5 with a score of 180 or above; English program applicants can be exempt from the HSK certificates;3.Non-native English speakers must meet the minimum English proficiency requirement:TOEFL:85/IELTS6.5
