毕业于美国Arizona State University,获政策分析和管理学博士。曾就职于美国Goldwater Institute 智库。现为教育研究院长聘副教授、博士生导师,主要研究方向为宏观和微观教育政策与管理研究、教育公平和机会分配研究、拔尖人才培养的理论和实证研究、各类学生群体成长与适应研究。研究成果在国内国际获得广泛认可。2023年入选爱思唯尔(Elsevier) 2022“中国高被引学者” (Highly Cited Chinese Researchers)榜单2021年获得第六届全国教育科学研究优秀成果二等奖 (第一完成人),2017年获得第十四届北京市哲学社会科学优秀成果奖二等奖(独立完成人)。2022年获得第二届天元拔尖创新人才教育奖金奖提名奖(第一完成人)。在Higher Education, Higher Education Policy, 《教育研究》等国内外一流学术期刊发表论文数十篇。12篇论文被国家权威刊物《新华文摘》和《人大复印资料》全文转载(其中6篇被《新华文摘》转载)。在《光明日报》等党媒官媒上发表多篇文章,获得国家和省部级领导批示。发表中英文专著2部。主持国家社科基金项目,教育部人文社科规划基金项目,北京市哲学社科基金重点项目、北京市教育规划项目、科技部委托项目、国家高端智库项目等多项国家和省部级科研课题。开设《社会科学研究方法论导论》等课程,获清华大学第七届和第八届“清韵烛光·我最喜爱的教师”校级提名奖、清华大学“大学生学术研究推进计划”特聘导师、清华大学学生实践金奖(指导教师)、美国Arizona State University 优秀教师突出贡献奖。

Dr. Kun Yan completed her PhD in Policy Analysis and Educational Management at Arizona State University and worked at the Goldwater Institute think tank in the United States before becoming a tenured associate professor at the Institute of Education, Tsinghua University. Her research focuses on macro and micro education policy and management, equity and opportunity distribution in education, theoretical and empirical research on the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents, and development and adjustment of various college student groups.

Dr. Yan’s contributions to the academic field have been widely recognized. In 2023, she was selected as one of the “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” by Elsevier, and has won several academic awards, including the Nomination Award for Tianyuan Prize for the Education of Top-notch Innovative Talents in 2022, the Second Prize of the Sixth National Excellent Achievement Award in Educational Scientific Research in 2021, and the Second Prize of Beijing Outstanding Research Achievements Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences in 2017. She has published many articles in top academic journals, including Higher Education, Higher Education Policy, and other international authoritative SSCI journals, as well as top Chinese journals such as Educational Research (教育研究), and official media such as Guangming Daily (光明日报). Additionally, ten of her academic articles have been reprinted in Xinhua Digest (新华文摘) and China Social Science Excellence (人大复印资料), and many of her articles have been approved by national and provincial leaders. Dr. Yan has published two monographs in both English and Chinese and oversaw multiple national and provincial research projects, including the National Social Science Foundation, the Humanities and Social Science Planning Fund of the Ministry of Education, the Key Project of the Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Foundation, the Beijing Education Planning Project, the project commissioned by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the National High-end Think Tank Project.

In terms of teaching, Dr. Yan has offered courses such as Introduction to Social Science Research Methodology, and has received several teaching awards, including the Nomination Award for the 7th and 8th “QingYun Candlelight—Our Favorite Professors at Tsinghua University,” the Tsinghua University Students Academic Practice Gold Award (as Instructor), the honor of Distinguished Mentor of College Student Academic Research Promotion Plan at Tsinghua University, and the reputation of Honors Disciplinary Faculty in recognition of outstanding performance and contribution to the honors students of Arizona State University.
